This 19^th-century former Baptist chapel and meeting house has been elegantly repurposed as a contemporary living space with double-height ceilings, original lancet windows and wood panelling. The light-fed, modern kitchen at this updated 1920s home in Clapton provides just that, with a large island being the natural place of congregation in the open-plan space, which feeds into a living room on one side and the garden on the other.

With 8,500 sq ft of space and eight bedrooms, this beautifully-restored and adapted Georgian home is one for a growing family. “I think the amount of space has been this house’s biggest gift, and what we’re most appreciative of. The light is gorgeous too, which everyone comments on when they come here. It’s a really calming space, even with three little girls and their friends running around,” said current owner Anna McDougall when we visited her and husband Willie for our Open House series.
