“An immaculately conceived apartment with calm pared-back interiors, positioned on the coveted Evering Road”

This light-filled two-bedroom apartment is positioned on the ground floor of Heatherley Court on Evering Road, a quiet leafy spot within the heart of Stoke Newington. The current owners have undertaken a series of carefully considered updates, adding a pastel colour palette while retaining the building’s original features, including the sanded floorboards underfoot, creating a calm, serene living environment. A spacious, south-east facing terrace lies at the rear, bathed in direct sunshine throughout the day.

The Tour

Heatherley Court forms part of a low-rise, high-density LCC estate positioned on the coveted Evering Road. Its façade is characterised by terracotta brick with slate panelling, working in brilliant contrast with the white-painted concrete external walkways.

The front door opens directly onto a fully integrated kitchen, subject to an immaculate renovation in recent years, with striking monochrome cabinetry. A cleverly positioned island bounds the kitchen from the hallway while providing plenty of seating space. Triangular moss-green tiles set around the island and within the splashback add a dash of texture against the off-white walls.

The living area leads seamlessly from here. Extensive glazing at the rear looks over the terrace beyond, allowing an abundance of natural light to pour through. The off-white colour palette continues, adding a sense of continuity and flow; oak floorboards run underfoot.

A staircase ascends to two large double bedrooms and an immaculately conceived family bathroom. Stripped-back floorboards chime harmoniously with white walls, highlighting the abundance of natural light, which cascades through the dual-aspect layout. The current owners have carefully preserved the original tiles, positioned on the window-sill within both bedrooms.

The bathroom has been painted a earthy pale taupe, reflecting the muted tones of the terrazzo underfoot and open shelf positioned under the bespoke cabinetry. The bath has been clad in simple white square tiles, and chrome fixtures and fittings feature throughout.

Outdoor Space

The decked terrace is accessed via a glazed door from the living area. A wonderfully secluded space, there is plenty of room for a table and chairs. An abundance of foliage climbs over the rear fence, above a large built-in planter. A gate lies at the rear, opening onto a private communal area and pathway.

The Area

Evering Road is wonderfully positioned for all the amenities of Stoke Newington, Clapton and Dalston. The Jolly Butchers pub is at the end of Garnham Street and is something of a local institution, specialising in craft beer and excellent pub food. Church Street is a few minutes away and is home to a vast array of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, including The Spence Bakery, Whole Foods and The Good Egg. Esters, a favourite with locals, is an excellent neighbourhood café serving breakfast, lunch and coffee, while Rubedo serves modern European cuisine and natural wine. Rasa and Aun are also excellent.

There are several green spaces nearby; Abney Park and Cemetery are ten minutes walk, while Hackney Downs is seven minutes by foot. Slightly further afield is Clissold Park, a wonderful space with tennis courts, a popular café, beautiful lakes, and resident deer.

Stoke Newington is very popular with young families, in part due to the number of good schools in the area. Particularly of note are Clissold School and William Pattern Primary.

Rectory Road station is just around the corner and runs London Overground services to Liverpool Street in around 10 minutes. Numerous buses run into central London and the neighbouring Dalston area.
