The final project of iconic American architect Frank Lloyd Wright (1897-1959), Norman Lykes’ house in Phoenix, Arizona, was designed shortly before his death in April 1959. Wright’s apprentice John Rattenbury, with whom he had carefully discussed the project, oversaw construction, which was completed in 1967.

The property is typical of Wright’s late-career style. A series of concentric circles mirroring the curves of the nearby mountains, the structure was designed with an acute awareness of its environment – a practice Wright described as ‘organic architecture’.
