Thomas Croft Architects

Thomas Croft Architects (TCA) are modern architects specialising in commercial and residential projects, often involving contemporary interventions in historic buildings or new buildings that relate strongly to historic settings.  Many jobs are located close to home in central and west London, but they have completed new build UK projects as far north as the Scottish Highlands and as far south as the Isle of Wight.

Many residential clients have complicated requirements or own old buildings needing special historic care; their client list includes many contemporary art collectors as well as well-known figures such as Sir Paul McCartney. Unusually for architects, they like to collaborate with interior designers on homes and enjoy the different characters that result. Collaborators include Colefax & Fowler, Francis Sultana, Sarah Delaney, Suzy Hoodless, Louise Holt, and Harding & Read.

Thomas Croft has spent 13 years on The Georgian Group’s Planning Casework Panel so is particularly experienced at dealing with listed buildings of this period and the associated planning issues. This is currently being put to good use in a major renovation and contemporary reimagining of an important Robert Adam Grade 1 listed house of 1790 in Fitzroy Square for a private client’s home. Their commercial clients include London landlords Howard de Walden Estate (for whom they’ve finished three new mews houses behind the RIBA in London W1) and South Kensington Estates, auctioneers Sotheby’s and many West End art dealers including Lisson, Marlborough, Timothy Taylor, Skarstedt, Ordovas, Simon Lee, Clore Wyndham & DesignArt dealer David Gill.

The Modern House Says
"A practice with an ability to sensitively rework 20th-century and period buildings for contemporary use. Thomas' own home demonstrates this expertly."
