Proctor & Shaw Architects

Proctor & Shaw, established in 2014, are an architecture and design studio based in south London specialising in residential architecture, from house extensions and refurbishments to large contemporary new-build homes and multi-unit developments. The office has a growing reputation for executing high quality, sensitively designed architecture.

The directors, John Proctor and Michael Shaw, have collaborated together since 2004. They each have a wealth of big-practice experience and have worked with some of the UK’s most recognised cultural institutions including The Design Museum, the V&A Museum and the Wallace Collection. Today they run this friendly, open-minded practice which takes a holistic and energetic approach to each project.

Architecture, landscape, joinery, and materiality are developed in tandem to create transformative spaces that exceed a client’s expectations. Recent completions include an eco-house in Lancashire, a crafted interior to a Marylebone Apartment and several high-quality residential extensions which have garnered recognition in the architectural press and nominations for the NLA Don’t Move Improve Awards.

The Modern House Says
"Airy, light-filled and functional extensions, often incorporating wood to elegant effect, make up a significant chunk of this practice’s portfolio."
