Five modern homeware brands that should be on your radar this season

Our Directory offers a one-stop guide to the country’s best practices, from architects to interior designers, makers to builders. With a change of season around the corner, we’ve looked through the listings to bring you five modern homeware brands for a spring-time interior refresh.

Ecosophy

Ecosophy is a sustainable home textiles brand that specialises in bedding, table linen, cushions and blankets made from organic fibres and natural dyes. We suggest matching a set of neutral-hued bed sheets with a hand-woven quilt or cushion dyed using natural indigo for a bit of gentle, non-shouty colour play.

The brand gets extra kudos for its fair-trade partnerships and championing of artisanal producers from across the globe, who often use handlooms which require no electricity or other carbon-intensive inputs.

Another Country

Launched in 2010, furniture and accessories manufacturer Another Country has firmly established itself a favourite among interior designers and homemakers alike. All their wooden pieces are made from sustainably-harvested timbers, and we’re fans of how the brand combines time-honoured craft techniques with cutting edge technology, creating truly contemporary pieces that work in both modern and traditional settings.

Yarn Home

This Cotswold and London-based brand offers a lesson in sustainability with its firm belief in the circular economy, demonstrated by its sourcing, cleaning and restoration of vintage and antique rugs. The mother-daughter duo wants to “‘ditch the make, use, dispose’ model that has become so common in decorating”.

They also believe buying vintage helps to, “give that lived-in feel that makes a house feel like a home.” Choose one of their handpicked rugs as a way to inject pattern without overwhelming a small space or go for something bigger to add depth and provenance to an interior scheme.

SCP

Based in London and founded by entrepreneur Sheridan Coakley, the manufacturer-cum-retailer has been pioneering contemporary design since 1985. Three decades on, the brand remains true to its founding idea to, ‘make and sell design products that are beautiful, functional and made to last.’

Where possible, SCP celebrates British manufacturing by keeping it local. Its iconic sofas and armchairs, crafted in a specialist upholstery factory in Norfolk, are a case in point.

PINCH

Buoyed by the idea of creating objects they’d want to fill their own homes with, couple Russell Pinch and Oona Bannon founded PINCH back in 2004, designing products characterised by a ‘quiet and elegant aesthetic’.

We’re not the only ones championing their work. PINCH have scooped up an enviable number of awards, most recently picking up an ELLE Decoration British Design Award for ‘Best Bedroom Collection’.
