"The old frontage of the house remains as an internal feature, including stone steps and an exposed brick facade"

This wonderfully remodelled grade II-listed townhouse sits amidst a handsome Georgian terrace along Hackney Road, set back from the street behind a distinguished front extension. Measuring around 2,570 sqft, the beautifully proportioned four-storey house has three large bedrooms, an expanse of living space and a private roof terrace/garden. The house is ideally situated at the heart of east London’s original and exciting epicentre, equally close to Shoreditch and the City, in one direction, and London Fields and Victoria Park, in the other.

Entrance is from the street to a wide cloakroom, which opens onto an impressive double-height reception room that fills the front extension. The old frontage of the house remains as an internal feature, including stone steps and an exposed brick facade.

The ground floor space of the original structure now accommodates two adjoining rooms; a dining room and a kitchen that has access to the decked terrace through full-height glazed doors. The kitchen units are elegantly freestanding, arranged around a wrought-iron fireplace equipped with the original stove.

Stairs at the rear descend to the lower ground level, where there is further living space in the form of a sitting room and study area, a large bathroom, utility room and separate WC. There is access to vault storage beneath the front extension.

The first floor contains the master bedroom, positioned at the front the building but fitted with fully refurbished double-glazed sash windows backed by secondary glazing, and a wonderfully proportioned bathroom with a freestanding bath. There are two further bedrooms on the top floor.

The interiors combine a beautiful catalogue of salvaged materials that sit naturally against the character of the original house. Panelling, architraves and floorboards have all been restored where relevant.

The house is very well positioned on Hackney Road and effectively backs on to the green spaces of Haggerston Park and its extensive facilities such as well-maintained all season tennis courts. London Fields and Victoria Park are a short walk away via The Regent’s Canal path which also provides easy access to the popular Broadway Market and Islington and beyond.
