"Turner Works have ingeniously re-designed this extraordinary home, configured around two roof terraces and a courtyard garden, in the heart of Bethnal Green"

The subject of an immaculate re-design by award-winning architect Carl Turner, this wonderfully individual terraced house has three bedrooms, a small courtyard garden and two roof terraces.

The building forms part of a characterful terrace, formerly shops, with large windows to the street. Inside, the palette of plywood and polished concrete ties the living spaces together and creates a distinctly serene environment.

The ground floor living room is open plan, with a reception area at the front and kitchen/dining room at the back. A glazed door opens on to the first of three small outside spaces. The joinery in the living space, and throughout the house, is exemplary and a key feature of the interior design.

The first floor, accessed by a ply-clad staircase, has two bedrooms and a shower room. The smaller of the two bedrooms is a versatile space with an over-sized sliding door that opens the room to the landing to create a larger communal area. A glazed door opens to a second terrace, where there is space for a table and chairs.

The top of the house is occupied by a single room, currently configured as an office/studio, with built-in desks and plenty of storage. A glazed sliding door allows light to fill the room and opens to the largest of the three terraces, a decked area with zinc-clad sides and planted with bamboo.

The house is well-positioned between London Fields and the green spaces of Victoria Park. The Regent’s Canal path is under a minutes’ walk away, for easy access to the popular Broadway Market and Islington beyond. Broadway Market has a reputation for some excellent places to eat and drink, and hosts a food market on Saturdays.

The house is a short walk from the independent shops and cafes of Columbia Road, which hosts a remarkable flower market on Sundays. There are a number of excellent restaurants locally, including The Marksman, Bistrotheque and The Laughing Heart. Both Shoreditch and Spitalfields are within striking distance.

Cambridge Heath Overground station offers direct trains to Liverpool Street with a journey time of around seven minutes, and Bethnal Green Underground station has excellent links to central London via the Central Line.
