In the spirit of Halloween, we’re enjoying Tom Blachford’s unsettling photography series, Midnight Modern.

First initiated in 2013, the other-worldly project captures Palm Springs by night with long exposures lit by a full moon. Alongside the iconic Kaufmann Desert House by Richard Neutra, the subjects have included Alexander homes and residences by Alfred Frey, Donald Wexler and E. Stewart Williams.

Blachford has described the ongoing series as an exploration of the interplay of architecture, moonlight and the tension of an unspoken narrative.
