House of the Day: Villa Le Lac by Le Corbusier
Villa Le Lac was constructed between 1923-24 from plans by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret.
Designed for Le Corbusier’s parents, the villa is the first modernist property the architect designed to be built in his native Switzerland. It adheres to three of the ‘five points for a new architecture’ that Le Corbusier was developing throughout the 1920s – the roof terrace or garden, the open-plan living space and the ribbon window.
