Our trip to interior designer Ebba Thott’s self-designed flat in Notting Hill got us thinking about a westward move of our own. Here, we round up our best homes for sale in west London.

The Bella Freud Apartment, Television Centre, Wood Lane, London W12
Fashion designer Bella Freud teamed up with Maria Speake of Retrouvious to conceive the retro-luxe aesthetic of this penthouse, defined by its vintage pieces and 1970s-inspired colour palette. It’s all backdropped by architects Piercy & Company’s material-driven design, which includes details like fluted marble walls, walnut panelling and an open-tread oak staircase.

Lansdowne Crescent, London W11
A house of conviction, creativity and charm, Lansdowne Crescent stands as a crafted piece of architectural and interior vision. The house was completed in 1973 by architect Jeremy Lever as his own family home, and exists in excellent original condition, complete with British Columbian pine detailing, pine floorboards and fitted wooden furniture.

Bentinck Mews, London W1
Marylebone has to be one of west London’s most charming neighbourhoods thanks to its period housing stock, an abundance of independent shops and secret green spaces. This mews house is in the thick of the action, being just moments from Marylebone Lane. Inside, adaptable modern living space meets refined materiality thanks to a design by Studio Mackereth.

Strathearn Place, London W2
If north London has the Heath as its preeminent park, west London’s equivalent is Hyde Park, one of the great urban green spaces in the world. This cleverly-conceived apartment in an elegantly converted Victorian townhouse is minutes from Hyde Park’s Italian Gardens, yet just a short stroll from Lancaster Gate, Marble Arch and Paddington stations.

Gloucester Terrace, London W2
This elegant apartment combines thoughtful lateral planning with generous volume and natural light, which pours in through soaring floor-to-ceiling windows. The apartment is on Gloucester Terrace, a tree-lined avenue close to Little Venice, Bayswater, Kensington Gardens and Portobello Market.
