At The Modern House, we don’t just sell the finished product; we also understand the romance of creating your own Grand Design or breathing new life into a neglected Modernist relic. Featured here are some of our favourite building projects and renovation opportunities for sale right now.

Royal College Street, London NW1
Renowned architect Henning Stummel has created a design for an exciting mixed-use dwelling in Camden Town. The property has a commercial unit with a shop space and office, and a large residential space above. Whilst the design is strikingly contemporary – including a sculptural geometric facade in terracotta-coloured concrete – the architect has also taken care to ensure it will sit unobtrusively next to its Victorian neighbours.

Dedham Vale, Essex
This is a rare opportunity to purchase 38.5 acres of stunning ‘Constable’ countryside, with a working vineyard and planning permission for a secluded family home. The site is divided by a beautiful lake, and is surrounded by woodland and open fields. The current plans for the house have been designed by award-winning architects Purcell, with interior design by RPW Design.

Vanbrugh Park, London SE3
This five-bedroom house in Blackheath is part of a unique terrace, thought to have been designed by architect Arthur Rubenstein in 1967. Each of the four floors has wonderful views of the heath from expansive windows that run the width of the space. The building has recently undergone major exterior works, and the interior offers an exciting opportunity for modernisation.

Monroe Drive, London SW14
This three-bedroom house was built in 1964 by the architect HMR Finn, for him and his family to occupy. It is arranged around a rear and side courtyard garden, and is in largely original condition. Timber cladding adorns the walls of most of the lower level, and bespoke internal glazed doors with curled wood chippings between the panes, also designed by the architect, remain throughout.

Frome, Somerset
This former Victorian tannery in the West Country has been converted into a three-storey space containing offices, mixed use studio spaces, gallery space and a residential apartment. The warehouse offers an exciting opportunity to take on a large project and develop it into an exciting creative enterprise.

Langham House Close, Richmond, London TW10
Langham House Close, a development on Ham Common dating from 1957-58, was recently described by the 20th Century Society as ‘a benchmark against which all other apartment blocks can be measured’.  This two-bedroom flat is being sold in largely original condition, with features including floating internal walls and an impressive fireplace. It presents a rare and exciting opportunity for a sensitive modernisation of a coveted mid-century apartment.
