Alan Higgs Architects

Alan Higgs Architects has been designing successful residential spaces for 25 years. Much of this has involved re-thinking the London terraced townhouse for today’s way of living – unlocking spatial flow, dissolving barriers between house and garden, emphasising vertical connectivity, and providing family-friendly finishes details, materials and services. They also design new houses and apartments and work in rural and waterside settings both in the UK and Australia.

The practice is adept at guiding projects through the complexities of planning, cost control and construction, and has close connections with highly capable consultants and contractors. Recent projects have been shortlisted in the RIBA Awards. The practice is based in central London in a mixed-use building that it converted from a disused public house. Alan Higgs has recently completed a PhD, its research subject being the creative practices and outcomes of his practice.

The Modern House Says
"If you like your architecture and interiors pared-back, ordered and glossy, this could be the practice for you."
