31/44 Architects studio was founded in 2010 by Will Burges and Stephen Davies, and are based near Brick Lane, east London, with a satellite office in Nantes, France, led by Benoit Sanson. Their projects seek to connect the historic, cultural, spatial and material qualities of a place with the intent to complement and reinforce the particular conditions of their setting. Projects are characterised by a thoughtful response to context, conceived not in isolation, but growing instead out of the particular conditions of each setting.

Projects range in scale from strategic masterplanning through to smaller-scale residential work. Completed projects include a mixed-use retail and hotel building in Shoreditch, a number of one-off individual homes around London and a family home in the Netherlands.

31/44 have recently been recognised with a number of awards and nominations, including: The Manser Medal, RIBA National and Regional Awards, and a nomination for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture Mies van der Rohe Award.
