The Quarry House offers an exceptional development opportunity to acquire a former sandstone quarry site and bluebell wood with planning consent to build a substantial three / four-bedroom family house in East Sussex. The proposed designs, by Atkins Blair Ings Richardson Architects in collaboration with James Bannon, extends to over 2,800 sq ft with accommodation arranged over two floors.

The proposed dwelling is situated on street level in front of a dramatic elevated stone quarry face with an area of ancient woodland above. The architects have maximised natural light with a first floor living room with south west facing terrace.

The plans allow for a landscaped garden surrounding the front of the property to compliment an existing cut stone wall running along the southern roadside boundary. The site would provide ample parking, and is reached via a gated entrance and driveway leading directly from Snatts Road.

Atkins Blair Ings Richardson are an award-winning architecture practice based in Brighton. They have collaborated with James Bannon, a designer whose most recent barn conversion project won a Sussex Heritage Award, to create a striking design for an exemplary Modern house. The proposed use of a carefully selected palette of materials including glass, concrete and timber, and the focus on sustainability, make this an exciting project. Bannon, who has extensive experience of building in the area, may be available to project manage the construction if a purchaser is interested.

The site can be found on a quiet road surrounded by fields on the outskirts of the small town of Uckfield. The centre of Uckfield, which provides a mainline station running services to London Bridge in approximately 80 minutes as well as numerous other services, is within easy walking distance. The popular town of Lewes is also nearby, providing a notable range of independent shops, restaurants and cultural activities.

Uckfield is surrounded by beautiful countryside with the Ashdown Forest just a few minutes drive to the north offering wonderful walking, riding and cycling opportunities throughout 6,500 acres of heath and woodland.

Details of the full planning permission can be found on the Wealden District Council planning website (Ref: WD/2015/2819)
