This three-bedroom detached house on a leafy, residential road in Bromley was designed in the late 1950s by the architect R.W.B. Jameson and has been recently refurbished by the current owners. There is still scope for further development of the property, subject to the usual permissions.

R.W.B. Jameson was a local architect who together with two architect friends purchased an attractive but challenging plot of land in the 1950s on which to build their own homes. Four houses were cleverly built onto the sloping site, one was sold off and the three architects and their families moved into their respective homes (one of the properties is still occupied by the original architect). Jameson landscaped the garden, creating a series of stepped terraces, and designed the house to reflect his interest in Modern Scandinavian architecture.

The house is entered via an entrance hall. The ground floor features three bedrooms and a family bathroom. Also on this floor, although with separate access, is a storeroom and workshop. On the first floor is a triple-aspect living room with original hardwood floor, a kitchen, WC and conservatory. Full-height glazed sliding doors lead from the living room to a hardwood decked terrace. There is a garage and gardens surrounding the house.

The current owners have undertaken refurbishment work including a new bathroom. Rewiring and bringing gas and new radiators into the property was completed within the last five years. There is still scope for further development and possible extension into the workshop that is positioned at the back of the house.

The house is located in a quiet residential area just to the north of Bromley town centre with a number of shops and two train stations, all within a short walking distance.

The house is ideally situated between two mainline stations (each approximately a 15-minute walk away) that offer fast and convenient travel to the centre of London. Services from Shortlands to London Victoria take approximately 25 minutes, and Ravensbourne has direct rail links to London Blackfriars (around 30 minutes) and the City.

Bromley is currently undergoing significant regeneration. Bromley North Village is now completed, to wide acclaim, and provides pedestrianised streets and a range of outstanding restaurants and other services. Bromley South is currently undergoing a major regeneration scheme with the construction of the new St Mark’s Square, a large landscaped public plaza, which includes a multiplex cinema, hotel, retail outlets, cafés and restaurants.

Bromley is one of London’s safest and greenest boroughs. The town of Bromley is situated just over nine miles from the centre of London and is the main regional shopping destination for the south east of London. The nearest green space to the house is Beckenham Place Park (ten-minutes’ walk). Local schools include the well-regarded Valley Primary School (ten-minutes’ walk), Parish C of E and Bishop Challoner.
