“Perfectly positioned for the best of London Fields, Wilton Way, Mare Street and Hackney Central”

A short walk from Wilton Way in Hackney is this wonderful three-bedroom house, cleverly renovated by the current owners. Thoughtful design touches, such as painted floorboards, plantation shutters and bespoke joinery, are combined with a soothing colour palette, culminating in a celebration of the house’s Victorian proportions. A south-east facing courtyard opens from one of the living rooms providing a secluded outdoor space. Positioned within the highly sought-after London Fields, the home is within easy walking distance of the park, ever-popular Broadway Market and bustling Mare Street.

The Tour

The house is set back from the street behind an original wrought-iron fence. Punctuated by arched and bay windows, its handsome Victorian façade features London stock brick and intricate white stucco detailing. The entrance is via a small set of stairs that lead to the front door, which is centred between two striking columns on the raised ground floor. The lower-ground level can also be accessed from the street, allowing the option of using this section of the house separately.

Entry is to a central hallway flooded with natural light, which leads into an open-plan kitchen and living space. Soft sage and mushroom pink walls define the living room and kitchen, while limewash floorboards cast light around the rooms. A wide bay window illuminates the room and enhances its sense of volume. Bespoke shelving sits within the deep alcoves to create a bookcase, while a subtle curve in the wall opposite zones this space from the kitchen.

Neatly configured in an L-shape at the rear of the plan, the kitchen features a solid oak worktop, extensive cabinetry and a white ceramic sink that sits below a large sash window. Sensitively restored by the current owners, a raised mantlepiece crowns an antique mirror splashback and range cooker tucked into the old chimney breast. There is plenty of space for a dining table and chairs.

Coat hooks sit at the top of the staircase that descends to the lower-ground floor, which has two double bedrooms. There is also an understairs storage cupboard and a bathroom replete with white tiling and teal walls. At the front of the plan, a shuttered bay window draws light from street level into a large bedroom finished in forest green. A courtyard sits off the second bedroom, currently configured as an additional living space.

On the first floor of the house are two additional double bedrooms, a single bedroom, and a bathroom with a walk-in shower and matt black fitting and fixtures. Calming sky-blue walls define the main bedroom, where there are double-arched windows and built-in wardrobes.

Outdoor Space

On the lower ground, French doors open onto a south-east facing courtyard at the rear, providing a quiet spot to take a break outside.
