We recently launched a new Property Collections feature on The Modern House website, reflecting the diversity of Britain’s modern architectural heritage. As well as the best one-off Modernist houses, the Collections cover loft apartments, conversions, plots of land, new homes, flats on the Barbican Estate, Span houses, and much more.

Each week in our new ‘Spotlight on’ series a member of The Modern House team will select their favourite properties – past and present – within one of the Collections categories.

This week Senior Sales Advisor Georgia selects three of her favourite new-build homes …

Chieveley, Berkshire
Designed by Gresford Architects and completed in 2015, this is a house of rare architectural quality in a village setting in Berkshire. It is four-bedroom property that’s one of only a small number in the UK whose impressive energy performance has merited a certification by the renowned Passivhaus organisation. It can be found overlooking open farmland in a residential area in the village of Downend, just north of Chieveley and about five miles from the larger town of Newbury.

Hopton Yard, Yoxford, Suffolk
One of a remarkable family of four houses in the village of Yoxford, Suffolk, this property was recently completed to the designs of the celebrated young architecture practice HAT Projects.

New Cross Lofts, London
This exceptional top-floor three-bedroom apartment forms part of an elegant contemporary development by designers Chan and Eayrs. Made up of two bespoke loft apartments and two B1 work studios, the building is clad with a herringbone-brickwork exterior that has a striking presence in the heart of New Cross.
