Mauricio Pezo and Sofia von Ellrichshausen have recently completed this six-room house in Concepcion, Chile for a couple of artists whose former home was destroyed in the 2010 earthquake. Consequently, the house has been designed to be completely earthquake-proof by using a steel frame that has been exposed and contains glazed walls on the upper three floors. The house is roughly divided 50:50 between living and working spaces. The lower ground floor contains two ceramic studios whilst the drawing studios occupy the first floor. The upper ground floor has the living space and kitchen whilst the second floor is designated as the bedroom and bathroom. The staircase splits each floor into two equal parts along the short section of the house. Privacy from the street is achieved at the fully glazed house by drawing the white translucent curtains.
