The Modern Houseboat, Berlin
From approx. £1,075
Sleeps 2 (+2 children)
The Modern Houseboat offers a unique opportunity to discover the adventure of life on water while unwinding and taking in the natural surroundings of the city of Berlin.
Located on Lake Rummelsburg, a small bay in the river Spree, there is hardly a more unique place to stay in Berlin: the entire front facing the bay opens up through huge windows with views of the city and the landmark TV tower on the horizon. You feel completely removed from the bustle of the city yet it only takes 15 minutes to the centre of Berlin.
The boat features a contemporary and minimal interior so as not to distract the eye from the amazing view through the floor-to-ceiling windows covering the entire front of the boat. Much of the furniture including the sofas and the beds are custom-made.
The boat measures around 60 sq m and features an open kitchen (including a dishwasher and fridge/freezer), a large living area with a retractable double bed and a couch, a shower room, a separate toilet, and the main bedroom with a comfortable double bed overlooking the water. There is a fireplace to keep the boat warm in winter and air-conditioning for hot summer nights. Two ‘Bella Ciao’ bikes are also available for the guests to use. Just like the boat, they are hand-crafted, timeless classics.

The houseboat is located on Lake Rummelsburg, a bay in the river Spree with the neighbouring districts of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Lichtenberg and Treptow. Right next to the dock is a small nature reserve that hundreds of ducks and many swans call their home.
In the vicinity there is a beautiful restaurant, ‘Die Hafenküche’, serving light lunches during the week and breakfast at the weekend. They can also pack a picnic basket and take guests on a tour on one of their boats.
Another neighbour is ‘Spreeboote’, offering tailor-made tours of Berlin in one of their elegant vintage boats. The centre of Berlin, and the many cultural and artistic attractions in the city, is about 15 minutes away by public transport, with a tram station about 100m from the harbour.
