Project Orange

Project Orange tell stories, often from the inside out, weaving local materials, folklore and know-how into a compelling and original collage. Their diverse approach is underpinned by sound technical logic, common sense and spatial intelligence. A successful project needs a successful idea, and Project Orange work hard to generate narratives that are accessible to clients.

Project Orange are based in London, but they work in Russia, India, Germany and Ireland. They are a team of 12 architects and designers who do everything; designing, drawing, negotiating, sharing ideas as well as billing, learning and making coffee. Project Orange was set up by partners Christopher and James in 1997. Every two years they publish PO Box – a ‘zine’ where we disseminate our thoughts to the wider world. James is currently the Director of Critical Practice at the New London School of Architecture (LSA) which represents a radical educational model reconnecting academia and practice.

The Modern House Says
"A comprehensive definition of design extends this well-established practice’s remit far beyond architecture"
