Carl Trenfield Architects

The challenges of the 21st century represent an opportunity to reevaluate how we live, work and play – and how might architecture lead by example; as a vessel for conversation and progressive solutions.

Founded by Carl Trenfield in 2012, the studio seeks to produce works that interrogate the world and time in which they exist, characterised by artistry, technique and technology. Key themes see the reverse marginalisation of the architect, and those that our architecture serves, and an ongoing interest and questioning of craftsmanship in the digital age.

In 2016, only four years since its inception, the studio was featured in the seminal Architecture Foundation publication, New Architects 3 – the ‘definitive survey of the best British architects to have set up practice in the ten years since 2005′.

Regardless of scale, budget or typology, outputs are ‘total’ and often comprise the consideration of fixed and loose furniture, and items of a scale, such as a door handle, that encourage a physical connection with the work.

The Modern House Says
"Carl is a rare example of an architect with a dextrous approach towards textures and interior detailing."
